Une odyssée badine / Damien Fortin -- Relation d'un voyage de Paris en Limousin / Jean de La Fontaine.
Content:
Already a translator of Terence, poet of Adonis and Son of Vaux, storyteller of some narrations in the playful turn, La Fontaine addresses in 1663 six prose letters mixed with verses to his wife (and probably to the narrow circle of their friends). He reports with an amused air of humor the only trip accomplished during a life usually tense between the casteltheodoric city and the Parisian capital: the poet accompanies in Limousin his uncle by marriage, Jacques Jannart, substitute of the Superintendent Fouquet (disgraced two years more early), exiled to Limoges. This route in the France of Louis XII, Francis I and Louis XIII is an opportunity to appreciate the lines of landscapes also shaped by man and nature and to admire the works of art of medieval France, reborn and classic: the grace of Val de Loire Valois and the symmetry of the city and the castle of Richelieu offer in his eyes two ways to organize the kingdom and consider the arts. This correspondence in the form of "gallantry" is the place of elaboration of a political and aesthetic reflection in the course of gestation and forms the laboratory of invention of Tales and Fables to come.--Hermann
