Weitere einführende und vertiefende Essays verorten diese Berliner Beispiele innerhalb breiterer Kontexte. Der Blick auf die Architekturen der Wissenschaft, deren Genese über mehr als zwei Jahrhunderte nachverfolgt wird, hilft, die Berliner Universitätslandschaft neu zu verstehen. Zugleich erlaubt er, politische wie gesellschaftliche Zeitläufte in den Bauten der Wissenschaft architektonisch wiederzuentdecken.
