Seit einiger Zeit geistert die Spekulation eines trans- oder posthumanistischen Zustands, in dem superintelligente KI-Maschinen den Menschen ein- und überholen, durch die digitalen Visionen. Das internationale Autor*innenteam dieses Bands, der auf eine Tagung in Fürth im Jahr 2019 zurückgeht, fasst das Thema in zehn Beiträgen unter dem Begriff des "Human Enhancement" zusammen: Menschliche Fähigkeiten sollen erweitert und Defizite kompensiert werden. So behandeln die Beiträge z.B. von O. Bendel z.T. abstrakte Fragen wie die Maschinenethik oder von K. Weitz die Funktionsweise von KI, andere thematisieren anwendungsbezogen den Einsatz der Robotik in der Psychotherapie, die Entwicklung von Sprachassistenzsystemen oder auch die "Enabeling Technologies" in der modernen Prothetik: fühlende Sensoren oder "Ersatzteile" aus dem Drucker. Es ergibt sich summa summarum ein eher praxisbezogenes und durchaus verständliches Abbild von Einsatzbereichen und möglichen Mensch-Maschine-Interaktionen, das man hinter dem abstrakten Titel nicht vermutet
