Whether they are naturalists, decadents, anarchists or symbolists, fin-de-siècle novelists engage in a quest for the rare and the strange, fight against anxieties and chimeras, seek to break or even exceed the limits of the novel. The present work proposes to reflect on the richness of the fictional creation of the twilight period by bringing together fourteen contributions devoted both to classics and to authors rarely studied, even unknown.
