Betty Rosenfeld (Stuttgart, 23. März 1907 – Auschwitz, 1942) wächst in einem liberal-religiösen Elternhaus auf. Schon in ihrer Jugend, die sie beim «Deutsch-jüdischen Wanderbund Kameraden» und bei der «Demokratischen Jugend» verbringt, ist sie beseelt von hohen Idealen. Als Jugendliche verehrt sie Walter Rathenau. An der «Marxistischen Arbeiterschule» in Stuttgart besucht sie den Unterricht von Friedrich Wolf und Kurt Hager. Schließlich tippt sie für den kommunistischen Untergrund von Stuttgart Flugblätter gegen die neuen Machthaber in Berlin. Im Gegensatz zu anderen SozialistInnen mit jüdischen Wurzeln trägt sie aber den jüdischen Kalender weiter in ihrem Herzen und tritt nie aus ihrer Religionsgemeinschaft aus. Sie wandert nach Palästina aus, wo sie den antifaschistischen Impuls und die Gesinnungsgenossen, mit denen sie für «die Sache» kämpfte, vermisst.
