Lisa Tetzner und Kurt Kläber (Pseudonym Kurt Held) waren bereits bekannte AutorInnen, als sie 1933 ins Exil in die Schweiz gingen. Dort entstanden Klassiker wie „Die Kinder aus der Nummer 67“, „Die schwarzen Brüder“ und „Die rote Zora und ihre Bande“. Der Beginn ihrer produktiven Partnerschaft liegt jedoch in der Jugendbewegung.
