Klappentext: Viele rechtspopulistische Parteien und Akteure stellen den menschengemachten Klimawandel infrage. Manche bestreiten, dass es ihn überhaupt gebe. Andere ziehen seine anthropogenen Ursachen oder die Notwendigkeit von Klimaschutzmaßnahmen grundsätzlich in Zweifel. Klimaschutz wird als undemokratisches Elitenprojekt disqualifiziert oder als Angriff auf die persönliche Freiheit, die nationale Souveränität oder den Wohlfahrtsstaat diskreditiert. Die Autorinnen und Autoren dieser Studie stellen die ideologischen Fundamente rechtspopulistischer Einstellungen gegenüber dem Klimawandel vor und fragen nach deren Resonanz bei der Klientel des Rechtspopulismus, aber auch in der Bevölkerung insgesamt. Tatsächlich stünden, so die Studie, selbst Anhängerinnen und Anhänger rechtspopulistischer Politik nicht geschlossen hinter den dort angebotenen Narrativen zum Klimawandel, sondern richteten ihren Protest und ihre Abwehr eher gegen konkrete politische Projekte zum Klimaschutz. Der Rechtspopulismus schüre jedoch geschickt die damit verbundenen Emotionen und Vorbehalte und vertiefe so gesellschaftliche Polarisierungen. Dem müssten demokratische Parteien und zivilgesellschaftliche Akteure durch kluge Angebote der Politikvermittlung und Teilhabe entgegenwirken.
