    Content: This book describes a journey in three riverboats up the Rio Amazonas and the Rio Madeira in Brazil and the River Mamore in eastern Bolivia, plus an interlude of 230 miles on the Madeira-Mamore Railway. The journey started at Belem at the mouth of the Amazon and finished near the cattletown of Trinidad in eastern Bolivia. Peter Grieve (1907-1950) attained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in WWII and then served as the News Chronicle's special correspondent in south America, travelling extensively there. A scarce account of the remoter reaches of South America in the late 1940s.
