Es war nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis ein Verlag die DK-Idee "Buch verknüpft mit eigener Internetseite" aufgreift ("Wissen mit Links", vgl. zuletzt BA 4/07). Der vorliegende Band ist eine solide Darstellung des Mittelalters: Geschichte der Burgen, Bau (Berufe!) und Aufbau, Lebenslauf eines Ritters, Alltagsleben, Recht, Handel, Medizin, Bildung. Mit Glossar, Internetadressen, Register. Das Reihenkonzept (vgl. 3 weitere Titel in dieser Nr.) beinhaltet Fließtext, "Lies mal weiter"-Kästchen in jedem Kapitel, in dem auf verwandte Themen im Buch oder auf der Internetseite (weiterführende Texte, keine Linksammlung) verwiesen wird. Texte, die wie Zeitungsartikel aufgemacht sind, Rätsel, deren Lösung im Text versteckt sind, sollen aufmerksames Lesen fördern (am Schluss Aufforderung zur Eintragung). Die Rubrik, in der Kinder selbst entscheiden sollen, wo sie weiterlesen (z.B. Kapitel "Jagd und Falknerei": Verweis auf "Was ist eine Schandmaske" und "Wie war eine Burg aufgebaut"), wirkt auf mich etwas gewollt und sprunghaft. Davon abgesehen ein empfehlenswerter Titel zu einem allerdings bestens abgedeckten Thema.. - Attraktives Kindersachbuch mit allem, was Kinder über Ritter und Burgen wissen wollen. Ab 8.
