Verweist die gleichzeitige Existenz der EU-Eingreiftruppe als Instrument der europäischen Sicherheits- und Verteidigungspolitik (ESVP) und die der NATO-Response Force, deren Aufbau im Jahr 2002 auf dem NATO-Gipfel in Prag beschlossenen wurde, auf weitreichende Widersprüche im Bereich der Sicherheitspolitik zwischen der EU und den USA, oder ist ein reibungsloses Nebeneinander beider Eingreiftruppen konzeptionell wie pragmatisch denkbar? Vor dem Hintergrund integrationstheoretischer Überlegungen soll eine Analyse der Ziele der Gemeinsamen Außen- und Sicherheitspolitik (GASP) und der ESVP sowie deren politische Defizite und nationalstaatlichen Differenzen zur Erhellung dieser Frage beitragen. Die ergänzende Abwägung der politischen Rahmenbedingungen des NATO-Response Force (NRF) - Beschlusses sowie des Aufgabenspektrums der NRF und der sicherheitspolitischen Interessen und Perzeptionsunterschiede innerhalb der NATO legt den Schluss nahe, dass Befürchtungen mit EU-Eingreiftruppe und NRF könnte ein dauerhaftes Konkurrenzverhältnisses installiert worden sein, unbegründet sind.(IFSH-Pll)
