Das Altonaer Museum in Hamburg begann 2004 eine Reihe zur weihnachtlichen Kulturgeschichte mit dem Band "Weihnachten in Europa" (BA 1/05) zur gleichnamigen Ausstellung; es folgt nun dieser schmale Band über Lebkuchen in Europa, dem 2009 ein weiterer nur auf Deutschland bezogener Lebkuchen-Titel folgen soll. In kurzen, gut illustrierten Kapiteln erfährt der Leser allerlei Wissenswertes über den Lebkuchen, so z.B. über seine Geschichte, seine Varianten, seine Formen und Gewürze bis zum dazugehörigen Knusperhaus-Märchen. Ein 2. Teil stellt knapp die Lebkuchen-Traditionen von 22 europäischen Ländern vor. Einzelne Rezepte ergänzen den Band, der erstmals einen kleinen Einblick in die europäische Kulturgeschichte dieses weihnachtlichen Backwerkes gibt. (3) (LK/AC: Karth)
