Die abstrakten Bilder Gerhard Richters (*1932 in Dresden) dominieren heute das beinahe fünf Jahrzehnte umfassende Gesamtwerk des Künstlers. - Das Hörbuch präsentiert die Highlights der großartigen Ausstellung Gerhard Richter. Abstrakte Bilder im Museum Ludwig, Köln, und im Haus der Kunst, München. Ergänzt um ausführliche Zitate von Gerhard Richter und unterlegt mit Musikausschnitten von Johann Sebastian Bach und John Cage, werden über 40 abstrakte Gemälde des Künstlers aus der Zeit zwischen 1986 und 2008 vorgestellt. Ausgangspunkt sind die beiden jüngsten Serien Wald (2005) und Cage (2006). Die in ihnen enthaltenen bildtypischen Merkmale werden über die letzten 20 Jahre des Schaffens von Gerhard Richter zurückverfolgt. Dabei geht es nicht darum, eine formale Entwicklung darzustellen. Ein solcher Versuch wäre vielleicht auch zum Scheitern verurteilt, weil eine Folge logischer Schritte Richters Idee von Abstraktion widerspricht, in der 〉〉Willkür, Zufall, Einfall und Zerstörung zwar einen bestimmten Bildtypus entstehen [lassen], aber nie ein vorherbestimmtes Bild〈〈.
