Die legendäre Ausstellung Rheinischer Expressionisten in Bonn jährt sich in diesem Sommer zum 100. Mal. Die 16 beteiligten Künstler um den Ausstellungsinitiator August Macke werden aus diesem Anlass in einem Kaleidoskop von Werken präsentiert, die in Zusammenhang mit der Ausstellung von 1913 standen. August Macke (1887–1914) kam Ende 1910 nach Bonn und knüpfte von hier aus zahlreiche Künstlerkontakte. Sein Wohn- und Atelierhaus in der Bornheimer Straße war Treffpunkt der rheinischen Kunstszene. Im Kunstsalon Cohen gegenüber der Bonner Universität führte August Macke 1913 eine Gruppe von 14 Künstlern und zwei Künstlerinnen zum ersten Mal repräsentativ als »Rheinischen Expressionisten« zusammen, darunter Heinrich Campendonk, Max Ernst, Helmut Macke, Marie von Malchowski-Nauen, Olga Oppenheimer, Paul Adolf Seehaus, Hans Thuar u. a.
