Karikatur und Spottgedicht auf die Einmischung Frankreichs in den Streit um die Wahl des bayerischen Kurfürsten Karl Albert zum deutschen Kaiser 1742. Die Fürsten Europas - fast alle europäischen Mächte waren in den österreichischen Erbfolgekrieg verwickelt - spielen unter einem mit der bourbonischen Lilie besticktem Zelt um die auf dem Tisch liegende deutsche Kaiserkrone. Vorn raufen sich der gallische Hahn und die englische Dogge um den toten deutschen Adler, dessen Federn Ratten davontragen. Am Boden liegt zerrissen der umstrittene Vertrag, die Pragmatische Sanktion von 1713. Währenddessen schreibt der niederländische Löwe in die Bibel, der französische Harlekin und der deutsche Hanswurst beobachten als das Volk die Szene.
