Seit Günter Brus mit dem "Wiener Spaziergang" 1965 als "Aktionist" in der Öffentlichkeit auftrat, hat er ein mannigfaches Oeuvre erarbeitet. Der umfassende Katalog führt durch sein Gesamtwerk. Beginnend mit den informellen Arbeiten, wird die aktionistische Zeit in Fotos, Dokumenten und zahlreichen Zeichnungen gezeigt. Der Wiener Aktionismus hat zu Beginn der 1960er Jahre die Malerei nicht nur in den Objektbereich expandiert, sondern ins Körperliche. Mit den "Selbstbemalungen" hat Brus entscheidend an der performativen Wende in Literatur und Bildender Kunst mitgewirkt. Den Zeichnungen der Künstlerkollegen wie z. Bsp.
