Mehr als 5000 Stolpersteine erinnern inzwischen in Hamburg an Menschen, die während der NS-Zeit ermordet worden sind: an Jüdinnen und Juden, Homosexuelle, politisch Verfolgte, "Euthanasie"-Ermordete, Zeugen Jehovas oder andere. Fast die Hälfte der Steine sind im Grindelgebiet zu finden. Der Band Grindel I enthält die Biographien von 90 Personen, die in der Brahmsallee und der Hallerstraße (in der NS-Zeit in Ostmarkstraße umbenannt) gelebt haben. Inge Grolle, Christina Igla und ihre Mitautorinnen und -autoren haben auch die Lebensgeschichten von deren Familienmitgliedern recherchiert, sodaß Informationen über die Schicksale von 150 Personen hier nachlesbar sind.
