Drei Sonaten und drei Partiten für Violine ohne Begleitung wurden von Johann Sebastian Bach im Jahr 1720 zum Werkzyklus der Sei Solo a Violino senza Basso acccompagnato während seiner Amtszeit als Hofkapellmeister des Fürsten Leopold von Anhalt-Köthen in einer endgültigen Niederschrift zusammengefasst. In der vorliegenden Studie werden die Ergebnisse ungewöhnlicher Analysen dieser Violinwerke (BWV 1001-1006) vorgestellt, die wenig bekannte, vielleicht ungeahnte kompositorische Maßnahmen Bachs erkennbar machen. Die zentralen Betrachtungen gelten vor allem der Ciaccona, dem Schluss-Satz der Partita in D-Moll. Hier wir der Versuch unternommen, das Unsichtbare sichtbar und das Unhörbare hörbar zu machen. Diese textlose Instrumentalmusik erweist sich als mehrschichtig hintergründige Sprache. Aus der Notenschrift einer vermeintlich, 'weltlichen' Musik treten verschlüsselt Texte der lateinischen Liturgie hervor, sie werden begleitet von bedeutungsvollen Zahlen biblischer Provenienz. Neben kryptographisch verborgenen Namen findet man auch Bachs vielgestaltige Signaturen. Zu herausragenden Bedeutungsträgern aber werden in den wortlosen Sonaten und Partiten vor allem die versteckten Choral-Zitate, die wesentlich zur Sinnerschließung der Werke beitragen. In einem System der angefügten handschriftlichen Kopie des autographen Manuskriptes der Ciaccona werden die Melodien von Choral-Zeilen lesbar und durch die ergänzende CD-Aufnahme "Morimur" mit Christoph Poppen, Violine und dem Hilliard Ensemble hörbar gemacht (ECM Records, München)
