Since 1978 Israel has been a constant military presence in southern Lebanon. Whereas Israel claims that this occupation of southern Lebanon serves its security the article shows that it has led to insecurity. Many deaths especially on the Lebanese side have been the result and radical groups like the pro-Iranian Hizballah have emerged in response to the occupation. (DÜI-Mjr)
