Hizballah is the only militia that has not been disarmed after the Lebanese civil war. And its military activity in South Lebanon continues. Still, Hizballah has changed into a political party. The article examines to which extent this political party has managed to adapt to the political system in Lebanon. It concludes that the Israeli attack against Lebanon and Hizballah in April 1996 had rather positive effects on Hizballah: it accelerated the party's 'Lebanization' process. Hizballah found sympathy and support in all over Lebanon. (DÜI-Mjr)
