Content: According to the author, the maintask before the US foreign policy strategy is to maintain, reinforce and expand the US influence in the Asian-Pacific region (APR) which, according to predictions, will become the "main scene" of world politics in the 21st century. Unlike the US policy in Europe, it underwent significant changes in the last 40 years. He explores US pacific policy in the future and points out that, although the USSR-US relations are going through a radical change from confrontation to interaction, in the APR the USSR is still presented by Washington as a foe with all the ensuing strategic consequences.
