Die Autorin untersucht die Politik kapitalistischer bzw. imperialistischer Staaten gegenüber Afghanistan seit dem Beginn des 19. Jh. Sie weist darauf hin, daß während des ganzen 19. und zu Beginn des 20. Jh. die Hauptgefahr für dieses Land von Großbritannien ausging. Hintergründe und Folgen des ersten und zweiten britisch-afghanischen Kriegs werden analysiert. Folgen des Einsatzes sowjetischer Truppen in Afghanistan während der Jahre 1979 bis 1989 sowie des Abzugs dieser Truppen entsprechend den Genfer Afghanistan-Vereinbarungen vom April 1988 werden kurz dargelegt.
