The authors explore the growing interactions between mainland China and Taiwan and the evolving positions on the "China question" taken by Peking and Taipei from the perspective of "integration theory". They point out that the experience of Germany offers a model for viewing the current state of relations (officially non-relations) between the ROC and PRC. They believe that the most significant obstacles to unification lie at the level of elite leadership for amalgamation. (DÜI-Sen)
