In der Folge des Zweiten Weltkrieges sahen Künstler die Welt von Tatbeständen und Verlusterfahrungen in einer Weise erfüllt, die es unmöglich erschienen ließ, ihr mit den herkömmlichen Darstellungsmitteln der Kunst habhaft zu werden. Geprägt durch die Jahre des Holocaust verfolgte Boris Lurie in seinen Bildcollagen und künstlerischen Aussagen ein kompromissloses ästhetisches Programm, um die zentralen Verfehlungen des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts visuell erfahrbar machen zu können. Über die Darstellbarkeit des Holocaust und Boris Lurie spricht der Künstler und Ausstellungskurator Peter Weibel (ZKM Karlsruhe).
