Woher die Bezeichnung kommt, ist nicht ganz klar. Vielleicht, weil sie auch bei größter Hitze immer korrekt ein Jackett trugen? Oder er ist eine Abkürzung des Hebräischen "Jehudi kasche hawana", was so viel heißt wie "ein Jude, der schwer von Begriff ist". Auf jeden Fall wurden in Israel die deutschsprachigen Juden als "Jeckes" bezeichnet, die aus Nazi-Deutschland geflohen waren.
