Faszien sind Gewebeschichten, die unserem Körper seine innere und äußere Form geben. Sie umhüllen den Körper als Ganzes, sie umhüllen aber auch alle seine Teile, die Muskeln, Sehnen und Knochen ebenso wie die Organe, die Gefäße und die Nerven, sogar das Gehirn und das Rückenmark. Ohne Faszien wären wir formlos, würden von außen ungefähr wie eine Amöbe aussehen, während im Inneren unseres Organismus bei jeder Bewegung alles durcheinanderpurzeln würde. Faszien reagieren darauf, wenn wir immer wieder dieselben Bewegungen ausführen, zum Beispiel bei der Bedienung der Maus am Computer. Sie reagieren auch auf die Gewohnheit, immer wieder in derselben Haltung vor dem Bildschirm zu sitzen. Sie bilden eine Brücke zwischen der Aktivität unserer Muskeln und unseren Emotionen. Sie stehen in Verbindung mit unseren Nerven und unserem Gehirn. Sie sind, angefangen von den ersten Stunden des Embryos bis ins hohe Alter, das Bindeglied zwischen allem, was unseren Körper und unsere Person ausmacht. Sie sind das Gewebe des Lebens.
