Im Mittelteil springt Gardam in die Vergangenheit und erzählt von Terry Veneering - beginnend 1937 bei seiner Kindheit in Herringfleet, als Sohn einer Kohlenhändlerin und eines Russen. Und wie er diese Zeit hinter sich lässt, Anwalt wird und eine der schönsten Frauen Hongkongs heiratet. Zum Finale kehrt sie dann noch einmal zu Dulcie und Fiscal-Smith zurück. Erneut elegant, leicht, britisch, lebendig und witzig mit einem Schuss Abschlussmelancholie. Kaufen!
