Während des Ersten Weltkrieges erhielt der Direktor des Reichenheimschen Waisenhauses, einer Einrichtung der Berliner Jüdischen Gemeinde, 754 Feldpostsendungen. Die meisten stammen von ehemaligen Zöglingen, die als Soldaten in der deutschen und der österreichisch-ungarischen Armee dienten. Diese Schreiben bezeugen den selbstverständlichen Patriotismus ihrer Verfasser, zugleich aber auch die wachsende Kritik am Krieg. (AUT)
