Beiträge zur regionalen Geographie 47
Content:
The opening of the Iron Curtain, the unification of Germany, the decomposition of the Soviet Union and - last but not least - the integration of (Western) Europe are forces and events whose cumulative effects resulted in sudden and dramatic changes in the political geography of Europe. Confrontation as the dominant mode of East-West relations has been replaced by co-operation - or at least by the proclaimed intention to do so. The schematic East-West dichotomy gives way a new diversity in Central and Eastern Europe and consequently in East-West relations.
