Inhalt:
An exhilarating and frequently hilarious montage of Moscow city life, showing the population at work and play, and the technology that makes that life possible, including the processes of cinema itself. This was Vertov's first full-length film and he revels in all the cinematic devices at his disposal - dissolves, split screen, slow motion and freeze frames - to produce a film of dazzling brilliance which is also the most radical experiment of the Soviet cinematic avant-garde. The DVD features a choice of three soundtracks: a commentary by historian Yuri Tsivian, a score performed by the Alloy Orchestra based on Vertov's original notes for the music, and a new score by Sheffield-based duo In The Nursery. The disc also contains on-screen filmmakers' biographies. (BFI - from the container)
