"Boris Blacher war einer der bedeutendsten und meistaufgeführten Komponisten im Nachkriegsdeutschland. Mit seiner 1969 uraufgeführten Oper “200 000 Taler” vertonte er eine Komödie des berühmten und beliebten jüdischen Autors Scholom Aleichem und schuf eine differenzierte Milieustudie um den Schneider Schimele Soroker und seine Familie, die durch Lotteriegewinn plötzlich großen Reichtum erlangt. In dieser Aufnahme der Uraufführungsproduktion aus dem Jahre 1970 ist neben der beeindruckenden Martha Mödl als Sorokers Ehefrau Günter Reich in der Rolle des gewitzten Schneiders zu erleben. Die nuancierte Regie von Gustav Rudolf Sellner und eine rundum überzeugende Solistenbesetzung sorgen für eine feinsinnige Umsetzung des komischen und selbstironischen Geschehens um Aleichems Figuren. Unterstützt vom Orchester der Deutschen Oper Berlin, gelingt Heinrich Hollreiser eine meisterhaftes Dirigat von Blachers klischeefreier Komposition. Die Neue Zürcher Zeitung schrieb über die Uraufführung: “Ohne je jüdische Melodien zu verwenden, schafft diese Partitur eine Art Folklore des Milieus, die völlig Blachers Eigentum ist.
