Indem die Agence Havas und Reuters, Wolff s Telegraphisches Bureau und die Associated Press die Welt in Nachrichtenmonopole unterteilten und ihre Informationen systematisch austauschten, entwickelten sie Techniken zur Produktion verlässlicher Fakten. Volker Barth fragt danach, wie sich innerhalb eines hart umkämpften, globalen Marktes Kriterien objektiver Nachrichten herausbildeten, welchen Interessen diese entsprachen und welche Ziele sie verfolgten.
