Ihre geheime Clique existierte in Berlin bis zu Borchards Tod 1945 und wurde später unter dem Namen Onkel Emil bekannt. Die Gruppe versorgte politisch Verfolgte und insbesondere untergetauchte Juden mit Lebensmitteln, Quartier und Papieren. Der Historiker Wolfgang Benz beschreibt vor dem Hintergrund der Judenverfolgung im Dritten Reich, welche Möglichkeiten es gab, Verfolgten und Bedrohten zu helfen. Vor allem aber erzählt er die bewegende Geschichte einer kleinen Gruppe von Menschen, die sich unter Lebensgefahr für andere einsetzte."

Biographisches: "Wolfgang Benz, geb. 1941, ist Zeithistoriker und Professor em. der Technischen Universität Berlin. Er leitete bis 2011 das Zentrum für Antisemitismusforschung in Berlin. 2019 veröffentlichte er die Gesamtdarstellung Im Widerstand. Größe und Scheitern der Opposition gegen Hitler.
