In den 20er Jahren in einer mitteldeutschen Stadt: Ein jüdischer Fabrikant wird des Mordes an seinem Buchhalter beschuldigt und durch die Voreingenommenheit des Untersuchungsrichters auch dann noch als Täter angesehen, als sich Hinweise auf den tatsächlichen Mörder finden. Erst ein Berliner Polizeikommissar zerpflückt die Beweiskette des Richters, der unbedingt ein jüdisches Opfer sucht. Früher DEFA-Film, der die wachsende rassistische Verhetzung vor dem Dritten Reich an einem authentischen Fall (Justizskandal in Magdeburg 1926) beschreibt.
