Der Zweite Weltkrieg wurde von der Wehrmacht als verbrecherischer Angriffskrieg, Raubkrieg und Vernichtungskampf geführt. Adolf Hitler weihte die Heeresleitung frühzeitig in seine Expansionspläne und Vernichtungspläne ein. Die Soldaten verübten nicht nur zahlreiche Kriegsverbrechen, insbesondere in Osteuropa, sie waren auch aktiv und wissentlich am Holocaust beteiligt. Entsprechend schwer fiel es der deutschen Nachkriegsgesellschaft, zu einem verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit dem Erbe der Wehrmacht zu finden. Die Autoren erläutern auf der Grundlage der aktuellen Forschung die Rolle der Wehrmacht im Vernichtungskrieg. (AUT)
