Inhalt: Almost two years have elapsed since the launch of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the pace of implementation in the Caribbean has remained slow. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has identified a lack of national institutional frameworks to support SDG implementation in most countries as a major factor in the slow pace of implementation. This study shows that Member States that have formalized an institutional arrangement for SDG implementation have recorded appreciable progress in mainstreaming the SDGs and in building national ownership of the global agenda. A template for implementing an institutional framework for SDG implementation in the remaining countries has been presented in this study. The study also highlights the critical role played by data in planning for sustainable development and calls for a renewed focus to strengthen statistical capacities in the Caribbean to support the follow-up and review process of the 2030 Agenda.
