The Arctic basin: results from the Russian drifting stations provides for the first time a unique insight into the work and achievements of the drifting stations established in the Arctic basin in 1937. The main aims and goals of the stations are set out, as are the methods of organizing the drifting stations, gear and equipment for life support and scientific observations.
