Die Steuerung von dezentralen Unternehmenseinheiten gewährleistet, dass trotz delegierter Entscheidungskompetenzen übergreifende Aufgaben erfüllt und Unternehmensziele erreicht werden. Für eine zweck- und zielgerichtete Unternehmenssteuerung sind hierfür die Eigenarten der zu steuernden Unternehmenseinheiten sowie die Beziehungen zwischen diesen zu beachten. Unter Berücksichtigung der Differenzierung als unternehmensübergreifende Wettbewerbsstrategie zeigt Christian Lohmann in dieser modelltheoretischen Untersuchung für zwei unterschiedliche Wertschöpfungsstrukturen, dass deckungsbeitrags- und umsatzbezogene Teilungsmechanismen im Vergleich zu verrechnungsbezogenen Preismechanismen eine effizientere Steuerung sowohl zwischen dezentralen Unternehmenseinheiten als auch zwischen unabhängigen Unternehmen hervorrufen können. Als Ergebnis werden Anwendungsbereiche der untersuchten Steuerungsmechanismen angegeben und beispielhaft verdeutlicht.
