1691 war festgestellt worden [1], daG die Einführung einer Dialkylaminogruppe in die 3-Stellung des Phthalsäurehydrazidringes zu Verbindungen des Typs I zu nur sehr schwach chemilumineszierenden Verbindungen führt, weil hier R R 'N' 0 C .... NH 11 (x I I NH ~ C ... o ein Fall von sterischer Resonanzhinderung vorliegt: die Dialkylaminogruppe kann sich nicht koplanar zum Benzolring einstellen wegen der o-ständigen Carbonylgruppe des Hydrazidringes bzw. der Carboxylgruppe. Daher leuchtet 3-Dimethylamino-phthal säurehydrazid (I; R = CH) bei der wäBrig-alkalischen, häminkatalysierten Oxydation a mit H20 2 etwa 2 GröBenordnungen schwächer als die Stammverbindung, das 3-Amino phthalsäurehydrazid (Luminol) (I, R = H). . - Die Einführung einer Dialkylaminogruppe in die nicht sterisch behinderte 4-Stellung gemäB dem Typ Il ergab dagegen sehr hohe Chemilumineszenzfähigkeit: 4-Diäthyl amino-phthalhydrazid (Il; R = CH ) war bezüglich seiner Lichtausbeute bereits dem 2 s Luminol etwas überlegen
