Silent footage of Russian workers contrasted to film of the Romanov family. Shots of explosions and soldiers in the trenches of the First World War. Photographs of a fledgling liberation movement and successive Russian Prime Ministers who struggled to maintain control. Voiceover discusses the roots of the Revolution, featuring images of Rasputin, Lenin and key Bolsheviks. The pages of a calendar change as photographs of high society are contrasted to footage of soldiers and poverty stricken Russians in the streets. Scenes of the people queuing in the streets for bread. Footage of female factory workers and a recap of the day-to-day events of the Revolution. Shots of people in the square and flash effects to mimic gunfire. Photographs of the soldiers rallying to the cause and inmates being freed from prison. Footage of marches through the streets and a memorial for those who fell during the Revolution
