Content:
The film focuses on the response of the united forces of the Soviet socialist states to activity within NATO. Looks in turn at the military service experiences of young men from each Warsaw Pact country and how they are continuing to serve socialism as their forefathers did during the Second World War. Includes segments on: new recruits in the Motorised Infantry in Bulgaria; twin brother MiG fighter pilots in Hungary; seamen and border guards in the German Democratic Republic; Black Beret paratroopers in Poland; the Romanian Alpine Rifle Brigade; an Armoured Tank Unit in Czechoslovakia; and two brothers who have become missile launch officers in the Soviet Union. Each segment includes a brief overview of the country's military and political history, including a piece on Lenin and the Russian Revolution in relation to Hungary, and old newsreel footage of the kingdom of Romania. Also features "shots taken in the Pentagon", shots of the USSR's concealed missiles, and border fortifications in Berlin
