Fritz Bleyl (1880-1966) gehörte 1905 zu den Gründungsmitgliedern der "Brücke", schied aber schon nach zwei Jahren aus; er hatte eine Lehrtätigkeit in seinem Beruf als Architekt aufgenommen und nahm an der weiteren Entwicklung der Malervereinigung hin zum Expressionismus nicht mehr teil. Bleyls Kunst blieb dem Jugendstil verhaftet. Aus diesem Grund ist sein überwiegend graphisches Werk auch weitgehend unbeachtet geblieben. In einer Ausstellung aus den Beständen der Sammlung Gerlinger, vor allem auch in diesem Begleitkatalog wird sein nicht unbedeutender Beitrag zu den frühen "Brücke"-Aktivitäten herausgestellt und gewürdigt. Ein dokumentarisches Werkverzeichnis seiner Druckgraphik ist ebenfalls enthalten. Dies ist der dritte Band des von H. Gerlinger und H. Spielmann herausgegebenen "Brücke-Almanachs". (I. Hanewald)
