Glukhovsky verzichtet diesmal auf den Auftritt bedrohlicher Kreaturen. Dafür richtet er sein Augenmerk verstärkt auf die Menschen und die politischen Systeme in der Metro, die sich hier etabliert haben. In den Medien hat sich der desillusionierte Autor als Kritiker des autokratischen Regierungsstils Putins geoutet. So liest sich sein Roman wie ein Vorwurf an seine Landsleute, die Augen vor der Wahrheit zu verschließen. Lesenswerte Soft-Science-Fiction mit politischem und sozialkritischem Impetus.
