Die Nazis unterhielten das beste Jazz-Orchster Europas, obwohl Jazz zu dieser Zeit in Deutschland verboten war. "Charlie and his Orchstra" spielten von 1939 bis zum Kriegsende auf der Kurzwelle Jazz im Auftrag von Joseph Goebbels' Propagandaministerium. Bekannte Jazznummern wurden mit Propagandatexten unterlegt. Ziel war es, die englischen und amerikanischen Soldaten zu demotivieren. Freddy Broocksieper und Charly Tabor, zwei deutsche Musiker... schildern im Film dieses bisher ungeschrieben Kapitel des Propagandakrieges... Seltene Dokumentaraufnahmen und historisches Bildmaterial illustrieren die Geschichte der Musiker von "Charlie and his Orchestra", die ihre Karriere nach dem Krieg bei der amerikanischen Besatzungsmacht ohne Unterbrechung fortsetzen konnten.
