Inhalt: This thesis by Marius Rodner explores the development of a versatile gas sensing platform using epitaxially grown graphene on silicon carbide. The research focuses on enhancing the sensitivity, selectivity, and stability of graphene-based gas sensors, particularly for air quality monitoring. Various methods, including sputtering and pulsed laser deposition, are employed to modify graphene surfaces with metal oxide nanoparticles. The study investigates the sensors' performance under different environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and UV exposure. The work aims to provide cost-effective, highly sensitive, and fast gas sensors capable of detecting low concentrations of volatile organic compounds like benzene and formaldehyde. The research is conducted in collaboration with several institutions and is financially supported by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research.
