Zum Projekt einer "erweiterten Vernunft", das die Phänomeno-logie seit jeher verfolgt, gehört der Versuch, die zahlreichen Verhältnisse zwischen dem Sichtbaren und dem Unsichtba-ren zu klären. Dabei geht es im Rahmen einer Ästhesiologie oder einer Aisthetik nicht nur um eine Untersuchung der Potenziale des Sichtbaren, sondern auch des Unsichtbaren. Diese verweisen entweder auf den Grund der Möglichkeit der weltlichen Sichtbarkeit oder auf eine Grenze im Sinne eines "Ur-originären", das sich dem Er-scheinen entzieht. Im ersten Fall nähert man sich dem Unsichtba-ren mit einer Kunst des Sehens dessen, was anderen unzugäng-lich bleibt, im zweiten Fall mit einer Kunst des "abweichenden" oder anderen Sehens. Wir sehen meist nur, was wir bereits verste-hen, und sobald wir (wie in der Kunst) Unverständliches sehen, sehen wir plötzlich ganz anders.
