A long missing manuscript has just been discovered: Erwin Panofsky's 'Habilitationsshrift'. Panofsky wrote this manuscript in 1920, but it was never published and was thought to be lost in the Second World War during the bombardement of Hamburg. Even Erwin Panofsky himself wrote in 1964 that he believed 'The original manuscript is lost'. Now it was discovered by Stephen Klingen, art historian at the Zentralinstitut für Kunstgeschichte in Munich. The manuscript was buried in the registration-boxes of the NSDAP. The German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported this discovery on Friday 31. August 2012 (If you wish to receive a copy of the newspaper article please write to erasmus@erasmusbooks.nl). The manuscript has ca. 334 pages and it will be published in the near future. We are happy to already take your orders now and we will supply as soon as the book has been published
