Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht die karthagischen Hoheitsgebiete auf Sizilien von der Phase der punischen Besiedlung des Westens der Insel im 6. Jh. v. Chr. bis zur Entstehung der römischen Provinz und der augusteischen Organisation. In diesem Zusammenhang werden grundlegende Fragen zur punischen und römischen Präsenz auf Sizilien analysiert. Im besonderen Fokus stehen dabeiTopographie, Urbanistik, Befestigungsanlagen, Wohnarchitektur, Tempel und Nekropolen.

This work investigates the Carthaginian territories in Sicily from the period of Punic settlement of the western portion of the island in the 6th century BC through the creation of the Roman province and the Augustan administration. It analyzes fundamental questions regarding the Punic and Roman presence in Sicily. Specific areas of emphasis include topography, town planning, fortifications, residential architecture, temples, and necropolises.
