Der Aenesidemus, die 1792 von G. E. Schulze (1761-1833) anonym publizierte Schrift zur Verteidigung des Humeschen Skeptizismus gegen die "Anmaßungen der Vernunftkritik", enthält der Sache nach eine fundamentale Kritik an Reinhold, der sich in seiner Elementarphilosophie auf Kant berief, sowie eine harsche Demontage des Geltungsanspruchs der Kantischen Transzendentalphilosophie als solcher. Obwohl Aenesidemus-Schulze, wie er nach seinem Hauptwerk bis heute genannt wird, in seinen Einwürfen gegen Kant auf entspr. Urteile von Jacobi und Maimon zurückgriff, brachte er die Einwände so präzise auf den Punkt, daß er den Zeitgenossen als der erste und den Vertretern des Deutschen Idealismus als der scharfsinnigste unter den Kritikern des Kantischen "Dogmatismus" galt.
