Talented pianist András Schiff, known around the world for his precise and passionate performances of Schubert's works for piano, teaches a lesson dedicated to the Musical Moments. Winner of the Kossuth Prize in 1966, the Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 1997, and more recently the Royal Academy of Music's Bach Prize, the pianist proved through is career to be an exceptional interpreter of Bach, Mozart, but also Schubert's works, recording on the Decca label the complete Piano Sonatas. Although András Schiff is focusing on the Musical Moments No. 1, 3 and 4, the entire work consists of six parts, composed during Schubert's late creative period. Indeed, their creation started in 1823, the year when the famous Musical Moments No. 3, "Russian Air" was composed, and completed in 1827, when the entire work was released. The composer died in 1828 and, aware of his serious illness, left behind a work which, seemingly simple, reveals plenty of charm and emotions. The Masterclass Media Foundation Archives offer to students and music lovers around the world filmed masterclasses, given by the best talents, on the greatest works of the classical repertoire. Their primary purpose is to provide a valuable educational resource in order to perpetuate passion and knowledge from one generation to another
