This is the first authorized edition of Mendelssohn's commentary, after the pirate edition published by Samson Kalir in Frankfurt an der Oder 1761, in which he presented the commentary as his own. Although Mendelssohn's introduction is printed here in full, his name does not appear in this edition. Meyer erroneously notes that the name of Samson Kalir is not mentioned in this edition. However, Kalir's name, and his pirate edition, are mentioned on f2b.
